About Us
The Family and Consumer Sciences Department at Uniondale High School is offering to district youngsters, who are 3-4 years of age, the opportunity to attend the Early Childhood Readiness Program. The program is designed to give children an introduction to the world of school while getting to socialize and learn about new, fun ideas
Our Mission
Our mission is to introduce youngsters to a pleasant pre-school experience and to give the High School Students registered in the Child Development Program a practical experience working with children.

Our Program
Our program runs for approximately eleven weeks in the spring. We meet Monday through Thursday from 11:30am-1:30pm, usually beginning after Winter break and running through the end of May. There is a one time registration fee of $75.
Parents must provide transportation to and from the school. Class size for this program is very limited, with placement made upon return of registration forms.
Each day when the children come in, a different High School Student will be the "teacher of the day." They will have a theme for the day and various learning activities planned based on that theme.
At the end of the program, in May, a Moving Up Ceremony will be held to celebrate the accomplishments of the children and the High School Students enrolled in the program.
Our Student Teachers
The High School students enrolled in the Child Development Program are interested in becoming teachers and working with the children. They spend 5 months learning about children and how to create fun and engaging lessons. Their lesson plans are complete and ready to be implemented with the children when the program begins in February.
